The Luis Rivera Ortega Street Racing Bill successfully made it pass through first committee hearing last Tuesday. The Bill developed following the accident of an Orange County Teenager.
Luis Rivera Ortega, 15, died during the New Year of 2008 while riding his bike on Forsyth Road. Robert Roedell, 22, was riding his car in high speed when he struck Ortega and killed. Street racing is believed to be involved.
